    Capitol View Neighborhood Association Meeting

    MEETING MINUTES – November 20, 2008

    The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by President Michael Brooks.

    Meet and Greet – We had approximately 22 people in attendance.

    The October 16, 2008, general meeting minutes were accepted and adopted.

    President’s Report: Michael announced that we will be taking nominations tonight for the December election of officers for the 2009 Capitol View Neighborhood Association.

    Vice President’s Report: None

    Secretary’s Report: Minutes were read, accepted and adopted.

    Treasurer’s Report: Natasha reported the CVNA bank balance- PayPal $290.67 Suntrust $2145.50

    This balance includes our grant monies. ($1000 for our Newsletter and $900 from Park Pride). We also received another $1000 grant for visual promotion of the neighborhood. Natasha also reported on upcoming events.

    Committee Reports:

    (1) Code Enforcement: Peter Kaplan did not have an update. (capviewdeputy@hotmail.com)

    (2) Public Safety: Tony Thaxton, Jr. read the monthly Public Safety report and gave a synopsis of the October 27th NPU-X Public Safety Committee meeting he attended. He also submitted an Updated Status Report of Properties which had been reported to Code Compliance.

    (5) Environmental and Beautification: None

    Old Business: We had a discussion regarding our “tool bank” situation. Michael Brooks said he would go take an inventory on our tools next week.

    New Business/Other:

    We had officer nominations for the upcoming 2009 term:

    Kim Garcia – President
    Jackie Crenshaw – Vice President
    Tony Thaxton, Jr. – Treasurer
    Peter Kaplan – Secretary

    We discussed the possibility of holiday lights in Perkerson Park. It was determined that we need donated lights, extension cords and community volunteers in order to install lights in Perkerson Park. Without the necessary “equipment” and commitment, we will not be able to do it. Natasha announced that people could drop off light/equipment donations at her house.

    Neighborhood Announcements:

    Don’t forget to vote at the Runoff Elections on December 2nd.

    President Michael Brooks announced that he may be moving out of the neighborhood, so it would be best if he not continue as President of the CVNA in 2009.

    Special Guests –

    Sgt. Hester (Zone 3) attended our meeting on behalf of Major Finley. He gave a crime report and said he worked the 4:00 p.m. to Midnight shift, Tuesday through Thursday.

    The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
